URL rewriting is a hot issue in today's quest of almost every commercial site for a high ranking in Google and the likes (if any). For Apache-based sites there is the well-known mod_rewrite module, that rewrites a requested URL based on configuration directives and rules. A similar feature exists in a Microsoft hosting environment in the form of an IIS add-in called IIRF. The latter solution is not available in shared hosting environments however. Furthermore, both solutions only address URL rewriting for URL's requested to the webserver.

SiteManager CMS v6.1 takes another approach to URL-rewriting by allowing you to specify a search-engine friendly URL for every page. This friendly URL is also used for internal linking, which is a huge advantage over existing standard approaches. Both search engines and visitors will greatly appreciate the clarity offered by URL's that clearly state what they're pointing to. The technology even allows you to have friendly URL's in every step of the buying process in the SiteManager webshop.
