ATLANTA, GA, August 22, 2008 - Emory University, the
internationally-recognized institution of higher education, recently
launched their newly redesigned Web site, www.emory.edu, which is powered by Hannon Hill's web content management system, Cascade Server.
The redesign of Emory's Web site marks an unprecedented endeavor in
technology for the school. Three of Emory's departments, Communications
& Marketing, University Technology Services, and Development and
Alumni Relations, came together to research the process and commit more
funding than ever before to the Web site project.
Emory's decision to revamp their Web site was primarily fueled by a
desire to increase the University's web presence, as well as the need
to unite all of the vast institution's departments under one content
management system. After much consideration and research, Emory
selected Hannon Hill's award-winning content management solution,
Cascade Server, as the campus-wide CMS. Utilizing an enterprise CMS
system like Cascade Server ensures that the process of updating their
Web site's content is streamlined, in addition to improving the site's
overall visitor experience.
The newly redesigned site boasts many impressive features, including an
emergency alert system, a new and improved campus news and events
display, a more user-friendly information architecture, and a
streamlined look-and-feel across the site. After launching the
redesigned site, Emory will also employ use of a campus-wide template
to improve aesthetic consistency across the school's multiple colleges
and their respective sites. In addition, the University has aimed to
improve use of its site by targeting content to specific audiences via
the use of dynamic news regions and RSS feeds.
"Emory has taken it upon themselves to set the precedent when it comes
to university web design. The creation of the 'Guides to Emory'
navigation is especially impressive. The fact that students can now
easily navigate and immediately view general student information, in
addition to browsing and subscribing to news and events specific to the
student population, is phenomenal," notes Blaine Herman, Director of
Strategic Accounts at Hannon Hill. "Emory has succeeded in making an
expansive amount of information readily available to their site's
visitors, in addition to providing content tailored to all of the
school's constituents. Here at Hannon Hill, we've been thoroughly
impressed with what they've accomplished using Cascade Server."
As a complement to the thorough and expansive nature of the web content
on Emory's redesigned site, utilizing one content management system
campus-wide provides a seamless way for members of the institution to
contribute to and update the site without hassle. Cascade affords
end-users ease of use and allows for content to be updated quickly and
frequently, ensuring the site is a fresh and relevant source of
information for all visitors.
