General F.A.Q.

Q: Who runs this site? A: Plain Black Corporation created the site several years ago in an attempt to have a comprehensive list of CMSs.  A place where someone could search on very specific criteria and see a list of CMSs that match that list.

Q: The information about CMS (X) is wrong. How do I get it updated? A: If you are not the maintainer of the listing, but see an error or ommission, you can contact the listing maintainer by filling out the contact form on the individual listing page.  That form will be emailed to the maintainer so they can update the listing.

Q: I want to use the comparison engine from CMS Matrix on my own site. How do I do that? A: The comparison engine for used on cmsmatrix.org is built in to the  open source CMS project WebGUI Content Engine.

Q: If this site is run by WebGUI don't they have an unfair advantage in the ratings? A: No, the only advantage WebGUI has in the ratings is the fact that it was the first CMS added to the list.  Other than it being mentioned here in the FAQ WebGUI has no more or less chance of being compared or rated than any other CMS.

Maintainer F.A.Q.

Q: How do I get my CMS listed? A: Simply create an account on the site and log in.  On the front page of the site you'll see a link that says "Click here to add a new CMS".  Click on that and you can fill out a listing page.  It goes through a short review process and is then published to the site.  It can take around a half hour to fill in a listing as there are a lot of fields to go through.

Q: How do I update my CMS listing? A: Log in to cmsmatrix.org and go to your listing page.  At the bottom of that page you should see a link to "edit" the listing. 

Q: I want to hand over listing maintenance privileges to someone else. How do I do that? A: Fill out the contact us form including your user name on the site and the user name of the person who you are giving those privileges to.  We'll get that fixed and send you a response when it is completed.
