Simple CMS wanted for home use

Hi all,

My ISP will only host a simple website constructed in ASP and/or HTML, without any database connections, and served up by IIS.
Initially I just want to build a basic family website - about 10 pages of pictures & text. I'd like to use a CMS in order to get familiar with CMS concepts and also so that I don't have to do too much coding!

So, I'm looking for a CMS which I can set up and use offline at home to construct and maintain my website using any language & database - but it must be able to output the website in ASP / HTML file & folder format, so that I can just FTP it up to the ISP site. My O/S is XP Professional (not going to change at this stage).
Later, when I'm more comfortable with the CMS, I'll have it hosted online.
Any ideas?

Take a look at Tandem Server CMS http://www.tandemserver.org.  I have been very impressed with it.  For one thing it doesn't use your typical DB to store it's data, it uses XML files. For another, it is extremly easy to setup.  It is the easiest I have found.

Tandem Server CMS also has so many features it is impossible to list them all.  If you go to their site and run their on line demo you will see what I mean.

It is free, but there is a licensed version ($99.00 per site which I think is very reasonable) that will allow you to have more pages and will remove the Tandem Server ad in the footer. The free version lets you set up a max of 17 pages (more than enough for a simple family site). You don't have to know any language and you don't have know anything about ftp.  It also has a simple to use "versioning" system so if you let someone make some changes and they screw it up, you can always restore from any of your previous versions. Tandem Server fits every requirement you listed in your post.

I had been looking for an easy to use CMS for the past 2 or 3 months so I have kicked the tires of many of the CMSs listed on CMS Matrix and I finally settled on Tandem Server CMS.

BTW, I am also a developer so I can create anything I want, but as any developer knows, creating is the easiest part, it's the maintenence afterward that eats your lunch, which I don't mind if I am getting paid for it.  But it's the small sites that your friends and relatives want you to set up that eventually drives you crazy because of the "simple" changes they want made. Tandem Server CMS makes it very easy for a novice to make changes and so that will get them out of your hair.

Give it a test drive, I think you'll be impressed.
