Hi

I am looking for a CMS with "Page level" security (User Access). Basicall I need flexinility to decide which page is accessible to which users.

I need an open source solution

Please suggest.

Hi SK,

You should check out WebGUI (http://www.webgui.org) as it not only allows you to set permissions at the page level but at the asset level.

Typical CMS products allow you to configure permissions at the page level but with WebGUI you can even set permissions on the individual articles, images, files, and applications on each page.

Example: You can create a new page and then have 3 different articles on that page. Instead of just setting the page permissions, you can go the extra step and give everyone access to the page. Then, you can configure the 3 articles so that each article has different permissions and is visible to different groups. Then, when users in those different groups visit the page, they'll only see the article for which they have permission to see.

Organizations like Volvo, Brunswick, Fujitsu, and the US government use WebGUI for large scale websites and intranets. These incorporate hundreds of groups, thousands of users, and permissions configured at almost every level. It will most likely be overkill for your project but it's open source and free so try it out and see if it works for you! :)

Cheers!

Tavis

Thanks for feedback. I really appreciate it. I looked at their website - although installation looked somewhat complex - I will try it.

While doing my search I found most of CMS lack this feature. Most of them have privilates for inside roles - like admin, write, pubblishers etc. However none seems to do this for outside roles - viewers on site.

My case is that we are giving access to content to various registerd users based on their subscription level.

One of the cms demo I have seen of dotnetNuke was exactly meeting this requirement. However that is on .Net platform and will need a MS hosting.

You might also take a look at Reason, which is PHP/MySQL and offers page-level access control.

When it comes to security I would recommend you to stick to Perl CMS, and to take a look at: WebAPP CMS it is the only Open Source CMS listed here which is both using MAC password encryption and has D.A.C (Dynamical Access Control).
