CMS for a sports club

Hey everybody! I am searching for a CMS which I can use for a sports club. This club has 10 differents sections. Every section should be managed by themself. An other feature which is necessary, is a WYSIWYG editor. A 55 year old housewife should be able to create new content. I had 2 favs: Joomla! and Typo3. But the user management of Joomla! is noch enough for this website and creating/editing content in Typo3 is not such as easy as we need it. Would be nice, if you can help me. :)

Selling and marketing a PHP-based CMS

We´re a group of PHP programmers who are thinking of creating a PHP-based CMS and put it out as a commercial product. However, there may be a potential problem in so far as PHP-scripts are so easy to copy and manipulate by third parties. So I wonder if there exist any general tactics for marketing and selling PHP-based products? Any feedback would be most welcome. Thomas

Hi Friend, Is there a B2B CMS? Or, any good CMS that have some good B2B features/functions? Thank you very much! David (Sorry to ask the question again. I remember last year I asked a similar question, but got very few replies. BTW, why this forum has many silent surfers as view-stats shown, but many posts have very few replies?)

I'm looking at CMS app like hot banana, which has a nice price tag but comes with a lot of features out of the box. We have a list of features, a small technical staff and a short time frame of 3 months, so I am looking for something that would allow us to quickly intergrate the design get the content into the site and get it live. Does anyone have a recommendation on some CMS software that is more turnkey then framework.

I have been wondering if there is a CMS that has been developed or that can be modified so that it can be used for a consumer complaint website. ( preferrably Open Source). I am sure that almost any existing CMS's could be modified to accomplish thi, by means of a module/component or modification to the core. What I am interested in are existing solutions already out there.

CMS with relational capabilities

Bonjour, I’m asking for your support in selecting a CMS for our site. 1) The site will mainly be made of articles reviewing products. 2) Each article must be tagged according to various attributes: - category of product - model of product - expert who reviewed the product - store(s) where the product can be bought - author 3) Each article must include a list of links to other articles about products of the same category, same model, articles from the same expert, same store, same author, etc. 4) Additional attributes could be defined. The number of items per category/attribute must not be limited. We can easily imagine how a relational database would support this type of data. But we don’t want to develop a database. We are looking for a CMS that would offer the same capability to establish relations between contents, with the ease of a CMS. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, Jean

CMS allowing cross-referencing between objects

Hi there, I am looking for a CMS which allows cross-referencing between objects. For example: I have 3 types of objects: Artists(article, image) Project(article, image) Media(media file, potentially an article too) A Project may be related to one or more different artists. Therefore a tree structure is not possible. Media files will be related to one Project. However, it should also be possible to reference the media resource individually (therefore I require a handle for the media file and it is not sufficient to simply attach them to an article). In php this is not difficult, but I haven't yet found a CMS which will allow me to do this. Any advice very much appreciated, D

This will be a totally green field implementation so server compatibility isn't a concern but we would prefer something along the lines of LAMP and definitely want to avoid anything that awould lock us in to one service provider for service, upgrades and customization. I know this is asking for a lot so your best recommendation will be appreciated. Thanks.

intranet?

Good morning. Need to set up an intranet, around 60 people working. Currently working with Sharepoint, wanna change: a lot of affiliated site should be deployed, and two options: keep a unique framework for intranet / web, changing platform if it is the case, or keep an intranet and web cms separated? could you advice some platform working enough to run an intranet able to admin all the doc workflow, strong enough and secure, with a good network community? should be typo3 strong enough? I read about plone and zope as well. what kind of cms could be interfaced with plone/zope (thinking on php based, and easily templating), thus allowing a good workflow from intranet to web? Have you got any site to which reference for such questions? Really, many thanks and compliment for the useful site. Maybe a search tool could improve it.

CMS Recommendations Please

Hi, I'm looking for a CMS that: - Is simple to use. - Can support multi-level menus (i.e. different menu options depending on which section you are in, with some menus the same throughout the site). - The ability to add a background image to the whole page (i.e. I don't want to have to select a template and then modify 4 different background images, I want 1 image that covers the whole background). - Secure and reliable. I've already tried Website Tonight and Joomla but they don't meet my needs. I've looked at Drupal which might, but thought I'd ask first before learning a 3rd CMS! Thanks very much, Mark

CMS w newsletter/site integration

hello all, Im working for a client who needs a CMS, and I know of several options, but they have a specific requirement for a solution which allows the following: - on a regular basis they want to send out newsletters to subscribers (which is not a big deal) but they want the content driving these newsletters to drawn from a database which the site also uses - as an example, a newsletter with 5 news items would be sent out, and on the site these same 5 news items would be items of content on the homepage/company news page etc obviously for that hte newsletter would need to be DB driven, but most newsletters I have seen are standalone WSYWIG approaches. does anyone of any CMS that offers the kind of content repository that could drive both email and site content? thanks!
Calling all CMS Reps!

Stamats Communications, the premier provider of higher education consulting services (research, planning, print, web, search engine, marketing, advertising), is seeking CMS vendors/representatives to be part of a panel discussion at our annual "Stamats Integrated Marketing: Technology, Collaboration, Results" conference. The conference will be held in November in St. Petersburg, FL. We are interested in getting many different CMSs represented and then discussing CMS implementation tips, issues, concerns, features, trends, etc. The audience will consist of 100 - 150 higher education admission executives and web/IT staff as well. Stamats is currently a "CMS Independent" consultant so we do not push any single CMS when we work with our clients on website redesign projects. We provide a CMS consultation to assist them in their choice. We've recently seen an upswing in the number of questions about CMSs and thought this would be a relevant topic. If you are interested in being part of this discussion panel, please email me at lara.marsh@stamats.com. Thanks! Lara Marsh, Interactive Media Director Stamats, Inc.

CMS and dynamic web apps...

Hi, I'm new to CMS so pardon me if what I'm about to ask looks stupid. For sometime I've been running a dynamic ecommerce web site, written partly in asp and partly in asp.net. During the years some static content (html, flash etc.) was added to the dynamic pages. This static content serves the purpouse to better contestualize what in the dynamic portions of the pages (product page, order page and so on). (To help you better visualize the layout, let us assume that the page is divided in three parts left, center and right with the dynamic portion in the center and the static portions on its left and right) Now the time has come to seriously consider the adoption of a cms to handle in a friendlier and more effiencient way the content i mentioned above. This cms should allow to replace the static content while leaving the dynamic portions of the application untouched. How can i solve the problem? What i imagine as a solution is a cms that leaves the dynamic part of the application untouched, while asking only for the left and right portion of each page to be "cms'able". Does this approach have sense? is it a common best practice? Are there cms able to let me do this? Thanks in advance to everyone who will be so kind to give me "pointers".

Need some recommendation & help..

Ok, I've come a long way regarding my companies website and my own web dev skills... Bascially a website for my company has existed for well over ten years in various shapes and sizes... I've got some PHP, CF, HTML (up to 4), JS programming experience and an extensive background in all things graphic. So far I've tried a good number of CMS Systems (the usual suspects: Mambo, Joomla, Typo3, Wordpress, Drupal and CMSimple)... however I have troubles finding the "right" system for my needs - and mind you I don't believe "my needs" are something exotic... So here's what the CMS should be capable of: - MULTILINGUAL (built in, please not with plugins or such stuff... I don't like version incompatibilities and after-thought solutions (like joomfish) I don't want "automated babelfish" translations - basically just the ability to have both content and menues in different languages with manual translations and a "fallback" to english for those pages where no translation exists - Easy Templating System - I don't have a very complex Layout for that specific project - it's simple, sleek, intiuitive and "timeless" - and I don't want / can afford to spend days at learning a specific scripting language or fiddling around with things - it should be "simple". - WYSIWYG Editor - preferreably one which is compatible with safari - but it's not a major issue - if it is that's a plus if it isn't I'll use Camino or Firefox on the mac. - Search engine Friendly URLs (completely - I don't wan't any "?lang=de&..." things in there... - Generally SEO Friendly - Template system should be able to handle completely tableless pure CSS Designs (unlike joomla, who can do so, but only barely) - Simple way to integrate self-programmed modules and stuff... - NOT BLOATED (Typo3) - Server Environment: LAMP (this is fixed - well it's a hosting I have and am rather happy with the offer and the hosting... I have shell access (not root though)) So no Java or whatever solution that's it. at the moment the website: http://www.ferrumdg.com uses CMSimple - which basically does what I want but not fully -> Translation has no "default fallback language" -> this is important, as not every page will be translated (there's no need for that) but I don't think double-content is a good solution for that problem menu system is very limited (you can either have something show up or not - but if you hide it from the menu it will not show up in the search or in the sitemap either - which is really bad) Development has been stopped - the guy (P. Hertag) doesn't want to go on with it - and has even closed the forum (it's read only) - and doesn't reply to any e-mails either - so support and future are a bit on the "brink" - something I truly despise. Sorry for the lengthy post. ... but if anyone can give me a solid recommendation I would be eager to try it out and even pay something for such a solution if it doesn't cost a fortune (preferreably opensource GPL Stuff though...) Thanks Daniel

My company wants to invest in a CMS with classic functionality of users/groups/editable content but also with community functionality, the interface to the end-user will have heavy development in Flash. I found that Ektron CMS400 is a pretty robust CMS developed completely in .NET and it includes some user Community features that can be extended. Does someone know about a java based CMS with some sort of extendable Community features? We reviewed Jahia and Magnolia among others with no luck... thanks, o

Soliciting Recommendations

I'm exploring Content Management Systems and looking for recommendations. At the present time, we create cumbersome plain ASCII text newsletters for distribution to subscribers via e-mail using a word processing application. We have an on-line archive of news that's created by letting a perl script attack the text file we distribute each day and break that text file into database records that are imported into a database. We've done it this way since 1994. I'm looking for a free CMS that will: (1) allow any authorized person, from any workstation with Internet access, to author and submit a news story for publication in one or more of our newsletters; (2) permit editing and approval of the story; (3) permit routing and discussion about a story among authors and editors prior to publication; and (4) periodically collate all news stories approved for publication and assemble the text files we distribute to our subscribers. Thanks in advance for your guidance and advice.

Looking for CMS for organazitation with ability to have a user page for selected users

I currently am working on website for the Motorcycle Club of Virginia Tech. I would like to have the ability of a "Users" section which would list some (selected) users with information that THEY fill in. This would include a picture, some contact information, their position in the club, and some other misc fields. Any suggestions? Thanks

CMS for existing site

I havea html based site that already has content in it. I want to put a CMS on it and have it real easy to use. So easy that you go on the browser and click a button that lets you edit that section. I looked at Typo3 and like it as well as Joomla and like them but do not know how easy it is to use them on existing sites. Is there a simple plug and play (copy tags) CMS that can integrate into existing sites and edit on browser, not directory based. Thanks. Jeff Jazar Dezign www.jazardezign.com

CALL FOR CSM FOR JOB BOARDS.

I am stubborn to build a job board on my own and not to spend 5000 pounds with someone who will also use a CMS. Can someone, please indicate the right CMS for this? I have a very good market, skills and some new ideas for this field. Done the plans and ready to start. Not sure what CMS I should use. I am open to a partnership as well. God Bless this Forum and cmsmatrix. I found it very good for a greenhorn like me... Best Regards, SK

Standards Compliance

I'm stunned! For the past 12 months I've been looking for a W3C standards-compliant CMS for small sites. I see there are other sites on the web that have been looking for such since 2005 - without a great deal of success. There are some good standards compliant CMSs around, but still few of them and most of them rather idiosyncratic. I'm stunned because I came to CMS Matrix to search for any other standards-compliant systems that may have come onto the market, and you don't even have it as a category on your search system. More than that, apparently (from the search of the forum I did) nobody has expressed a concern about this issue there either! When this is vital for the future of the industry, why?

CMS with easy templating

I'm looking for a CMS for my church and one of the main features I"m looking for is the ability to create templates easily. Basically, how I would like to create the template is that you create an entire HTML page with any HTML you want (javascripts, flash content, <Head> tags, etc) and then inside the template you put specific tags (however the CMS does it) where you want your CMS blocks to go. Ideally you have the ability to have multiple blocks in a page so you can put different content in different places. This is the most important thing to me, because an outside person is designing the template for the church website and basically I just want to be able to upload that template and just add the extra tag info to put in the site content. I don't want to have to take his template and then break it down and use some proprietary templating system. Other than that, I'm only looking for a few standard things - A TRUE WYSIWYG editor (no tags showing up in the editor) Standard modules for - News - Images - Downloads - Calendar - ecomerce (preferably something compatible with PayPal) Any help would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.
